The markets

Some market ideas… more on request

Watch out for heavy traffic on Thursday mornings in Dinan, it’s market day!

In Dinan, the Thursday market has been an institution for centuries. We find traces of it from the 12th century. It was then a gathering place for the rural populations, who came to sell their agricultural production and purchase fabrics or everyday items.

Today, the first traders are arriving on Duguesclin and Champs-Clos places at dawn, to unpack their goods. Some 190 places are allocated to them. The place is very busy. Obviously, no parking in these two places that day.

Before you leave, impossible to resist to the traditional «galette saucisse» or to a coffee in the Halles of Dinan!

The halls of DINAN, the Cohue

Located in the historic heart of the medieval city, the Halles of Dinan called “La Cohue”, have been completely renovated in 2009. It is accessed by various entrances: rue de la Ferronnerie, rue de la Mittrie and Place du Petit Pain.

We discover this long alley, covered with a glass roof that lets the sun go through, shops and cafes, local products .. Magnificent sculptures..  An unexpected hidden haven.

Discover the Dinard market! It is one of the largest in the region along with Dinan and it is open all year !

Nearly 300 traders are gathered on the esplanade de la Halle in season! Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, all year round on the Esplanade des Halles, Place Rochaïd. The halls are open every morning from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with 18 traders (they are closed on Mondays out of season).
